How to Download VMware Workstation and Fusion
VMware Workstation Pro (for windows) and VMware Fusion Pro (for MacOS) are my preferred options for running Virtual Machines. They offer a plethora of useful functionality and both are now free for non-commercial use.
As Broadcom’s website is a little confusing to navigate, I’ve included the the step required to download them to your system below.
Navigate to Broadcom’s website.
Click “Support Portal” in the top right corner of the website
If you don’t already have an account, you’ll need to register by clicking “Register” and following the registration flow.
Once you finish registration, return to the home page, and repeat steps 1 and 2, and click “Go To Portal”.
After logging in with your email and password, you’ll arrive at a page titled “My Dashboard”, Note that mine says “VMware Cloud Foundation” but yours may be different. This is fine.
From the left hand menu, click My Downloads
On the My Downloads page, click “HERE” in the box that says “Free Software Downloads available HERE”
You’ll now be on the Free Downloads Page. If you’re on windows, you’ll want to search for “workstation” in the search bar. If you are on Mac, you’ll search for “fusion” instead.
Select your applicable software, then choose the latest version and then the latest release
When you click on the release link, you’ll be brought to the download page. You first need to click the Terms and Conditions link, this will open a new tab in your browser. The checkbox next to “I agree to the Terms and Conditions” will then become active. Check it. You can then click the download button (the cloud and down arrow) and install the software as you would any other software on your computer.
Return to Canvas to complete your Virtual Machine Setup Steps.
